To whom it may concern,

My name is Kellyn Poe. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I

can remember and have contributed greatly to the person I have become. I ride horses

and through my experiences training and showing I have learned a lot about myself. I

have learned compassion, confidence and responsibility. Throughout high school I have

been active on the equestrian team and have served as a team captain both my junior

and senior year. I have also been active in 4H and showing animals for nine years. I

have served as a county 4H ambassador and represented 4H on both the state and

national level.

I was born in Portland, Oregon and have lived here in the same house for my

whole life. I live with my parents, Jay and Debbie Poe, and my older brother. My parents

are very supportive of all the things that I have chosen to pursuit this far in life. My older

brother has been a role model to me and I look to him for advice in many things that I

do.

After graduation, I will be attending Oregon State University in the fall of 2018. I

plan on majoring in animal science and applying for veterinary school after I get my four

year degree. I have chosen animal science because animals have been influential in my

life and I can see myself enjoying a career in that field. My goal is to graduate from vet

school and practice as a large animal veterinarian As of right now, I want to focus

mainly on horses as a veterinarian but still be able to practice with all large animals and

livestock. I will be graduating as a salutatorian with the class of 2018, with a 3.98 GPA.
