Dear Dr. Scholten,

I am writing on behalf of Rachel Kwiatkowski in support of her candidacy for a teaching position
at Petoskey Middle School. I have had the pleasure of working closely with Rachel at Alanson
Public Schools throughout this past academic year. Rachel joined our middle school staff as a
Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in September of 2017 and she has proven to be a
gifted educator, a trusted colleague, and an asset to our school.

As an educator, Rachel is perceptive and assertive. She maintains a professional presence in

the classroom while cultivating meaningful relationships with her students. She easily builds
and maintains rapport and upholds behavioral expectations through consistent use of
appropriate discipline. She is aware of opportunities for growth and improvement, focused on
both student engagement and academic performance.

The creativity Rachel brings to her teaching and lesson planning sets her apart. From crafting
curriculum review games to improving classroom procedures, she has a knack for adaptive
solutions. Rachel is resourceful and inventive, well-read and technologically savvy.

Upon her employment, Rachel made a quick and seamless transition into the fabric of our staff.
She is personable and collaborative, allowing her to integrate easily into our unique Alanson
Viking culture and to begin contributing from the start. Rachel’s contributions have not waned
throughout the year. Her efforts are consistently marked by her diligence, willingness to take
initiative, and ability to exceed expectations. She is a valued member of our instructional team.

Rachel’s competence is valued by our entire school. She goes above and beyond her job
responsibilities and she represents herself and our school well in the community.

In sum, Rachel is dedicated, clever, enthusiastic, and encouraging. I recommend Rachel

Kwiatkowski to Petoskey Public Schools.
