Science and Feeds Journal; Liping Qui, Zhibo Li, Chao Song, Cong Zhang, Yao Zheng, Bo Sun,

and Jianzhang Chen wrote “Changing Rule of Physical and Chemical Indicators of Sediment in

Tilapia Aquaculture Ponds”. The purpose of this experiment was to provide information for

studying balancing mechanism of nutrition environment in aquaculture ponds. They collected

sediment (matter that settles to the bottom of a liquid) samples during the breeding process of

tilapia (an African freshwater cichlid fish that has been widely introduced to many areas for

food) in ponds. Various types of nutrient content of the samples were detected and the changing

rule (the fundamental rules by which a legal system's other rules are altered) was summarized.

The results of this experiment showed that dry weight of the sediment and content of TP, TN and

TOC generally presented a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. The production

percentage was close to 80% of the total production which lasted from July to September. The

content of NH4 increased gradually and reached a peak in early August, then was maintained at

the peak level. Then NO2 content was basically the same in the earlier aquaculture stage and

decreased in middle stage with a big difference, then rose again in the later stage.
