Avoid Early Marriage to Save Your Future

Marriage is the legally or formally recognized union that involved two persons as

partner in personal in relationship. In this era many teenager have to marry in the early age or

the age under 17 years old. There are some reason that make them marry in the early age,

some of them have to marry because they get an accident or they get pressure from somebody

else and etc. As a result, many teenagers who have married will face many problems such as

the interruption of education and also they will get some health problem, either the physical

state or the state of their psychology in the future. And that’s why marriage should not do in

the early age or in the teen age.

Many girls get the disadvantages of the early marriage among teenager, especially in

their education side. Early marriage disavows the authority of teenagers to get education, and

reach their passion to get higher education. For example, according to Educational Institution

in Sampang, East Java, at least there are 79 students of junior high school in that region that

resign from the school because of early marriage. However, even though those girls want to

continue their study, they will be disturbed by their household duties and sometimes they also

already have a child that makes them will think twice to continue their study. Consequently,

teenager who didn’t continue study will have a low education that is usually they will become

a jobless or at least they just become a labor or etc. Therefrom, it will be the one of the cause

of the rising of poverty in Indonesia that always grows every year.

Early marriage among teenagers create another problem in the health side whether in

their physical state or in psychological state. However, teenagers are still young they have

high emotion that can explode anytime. Their mood could change quickly, and sometimes it

is make some problems in the teenager’s household. For example, teenager couples usually

get angry because of trivial problem. Then, they will have common argue or huge argue till

even the husband will do harassment to his wife because of it. Moreover, such thing like that

will make some injury and anxiety to the victim and makes them get depressed. Meanwhile,
early marriage will increase the risk of young mother to get uterus cancer, it happened

because the uterus of girl teenager has not developed well in this age. In addition, young age

is not the right time to them to get marry. Actually, that time is the best time to them to

explore the world, to hang out with their friend and spend their time to socialize with others,

but, young marriage seizes their time to socialize with others. As a result, to fill their willing

to socialize with their friend, sometimes young mother will neglect their kid.
People who agree with this issue argued that early marriage will avoid teenagers to do

fornications, free sex or immoral thing. This may be so, but in this case, early marriage is not

the best solution to avoid those problems. So, the best way to avoid those problems is the

parental role. Actually it is better to parents to prevent those problems by growing their

children aware and also give them motivation to get higher school first and stay away to those

problems and if parents can’t do that they can send their children to an Islamic boarding

school or a hostel to keep away their children from immoral thing. In other hand, people who

agree with this issue argued that early marriage will develop the maturity and the

independently of teenagers who have already married. In fact, teenager couples who are

married by accident or because of pressure, they will not ready to manage their own money,

or even they haven’t produce their own income. Finally, they will stay with one of their

couple’s parent and they will always depend to their parents.

However early marriage may have some positive advantages for teenager’s life as the

solution to decrease immoral thing in this country, but it is not the best solution to avoid those

things. And, actually the most important thing to avoid free sex or immoral sex is the role of

parent to prevent their children from free sex or immoral things by always give explanation

and give them motivation to avoid it. Indeed, avoiding early marriage will have more

advantages to teenager’s future such as the can reach their dream to be a successful people

someday by continuing their study.
