Unit: Physical Activity (split setting) Topic: Field Hockey Date: 4/23/2018

SOL:
- P 6.1.a Combine and apply mature locomotor and manipulative skills into specialized
sequences to include over hand and
underhand throwing and catching, execution to a target, hand and/or foot dribbling,
volleying/striking and/or batting
ball; and apply sequences, to include change of direction, speed, patterns,
pathways, and spatial relationships in
partner and small-group modified game-play that includes dynamic and
unpredictable situations.
- P 6.1.c Identify the six components of skill-related fitness (agility, balance, coordination,
power, reaction time, and speed).
- P 6.1.d Analyze movement situations for direction, speed, accuracy, and pathways to improve
performance.

Learning Targets: I can properly dribble, pass, and receive the field hockey ball with control.

Learning Activities:
1. Students will sit in squads for attendance and for dynamic and static warm-ups

2. Instant Activity:
 Students will perform a designated locomotor movement around the perimeter of the gym

 Students will go to there designated lines in the gym to complete sets of specific
exercises (either muscular strength/endurance/ flexibility) Teacher will review review the
specific muscles used for the exercise.

4. Action for the day:


 First the girls will get into groups of four and pass the ball around with each other, they
will focus on receiving and sending the ball with full control. (10 mins)
 Then they will get into groups (size depends on attendance put approx. three groups of
ten), they will go one by one dribbling the ball through cones that will be set up in a zig-
zag formation. They have to get down and back as fast as they can and give the ball to the
next girl in line, the first group to finish wins. (10 mins)
 Then to end the class they will divide into two teams and scrimmage eachother, which
will require them to put all their practiced skills together. (until 5 minutes left in class)
