SAP AG Installation APO,BW,CRM,R/3,SEM,Workplace
Overview

Overview
IDES stands for “Internet Demo and Evaluation System”. Besides the IDES-R/3 component
- containing a model company with data in client 800 SAP now offers a IDES mySAP.com
landscape including R/3 4.6C, Workplace 2.11, CRM/EBP 2.0C, APO 3.0A, BW 2.1C,
SEM 3.0 (see OSS-note 414305 for details). The IDES R/3 documentation is available on
the standard documentation CD, the component documentation with integrated business
scenarios is available as WORKPLACE_DOCU.SAR archive on DVD3 or after the
complete installation on the Internet Explorer logon screen of the Workplace.
Attention: This guide is usable for all IDES mySAP.com components and explains the
general differences between the Installation of an IDES component and the corresponding
standard component. Details about all the common steps – like the APO liveCache
installation - which are not described here, can be found in the standard installation guides
and OSS-notes.

Differences between IDES mySAP.com-components and standard

components
• An Upgrade of one or more components to a higher release-level should be discussed
with SAP (see note 164244) first.
• The Systems may not be used as systems in production.
• For UNIX- and NT-Installations please read the chapter ‘Preparations’ carefully. If an
installation template was prepared, it can be found in the component-subdirectory IDES
(for example DVD3:\CRM\IDES). If not, it has to be prepared manually according to
the instructions on the next pages.
• Besides client 000 the IDES components contain client 800. Some systems contain
additional clients (see table T000).
• The DB-Exports are stored on DVD (R/3 on two DVDs). This effects the installation
procedure and the additional necessary temporary disk space. Please read the chapter
‘General Preparations’ on the next pages very carefully.
• Due to additional application data and available languages the IDES-Systems need more
database storage. See the next page.
• The IDES mySAP.com components are available on MS-SQL (NT / Windows ) and
Oracle (NT / Windows / UNIX) only.
• ABAP/4-Report-Load: at the end of this guide and in OSS-note 414305 you will find
information how to generate report-load in your system.
• The IDES mySAP.com-components contain several languages. Please use transaction
SMLT to find out, which ones are available. To use them directly after the installation
please set the ‘installed_languages’-Parameter in the instance profile. Take care of
special codepages (i.e. Japanese (JA)).

Virtual DB-Export CD on disk

General Preparations: Handling of the DB-Export Data

As mentioned above the DB-Exports of all IDES mySAP.com-components - as input for the
installation tool R3setup - are available on three DVDs. Except for R/3 you can use the
subdirectories directly as input source during the installation, or copy the data to disk in a –
more or less – big virtual DB-Export-CD on disk. With R/3 you have to do it, because the
Export was to large for one DVD. The necessary activities are independent of operating
system and database software.

Building up a virtual DB-Export-CD on disk especially for R/3

DB-Export-CDs - used during an installation - always have the following structure:
DATA CD-subdirectory 1
DB CD-subdirectory 2
LABEL.ASC flat file with the CD-identification

All DVD-subdirectories with DB-Exports have this structure. Because of the size the R/3-
DB-Export is stored on DVD2 (with the structure described above) and an additional file in
subdirectory R3_II\data on DVD4.
Copy the complete subdirectory DVD2:\R3 to a disk with at least 5 GB free space. It is up
to you, where you put the directory in your file-system (for example R3 in /usr/sap or with
NT like D:\R3). You have to enter this name (with the path) later when the installation tool
R3SETUP asks for the location of the DB-Export-CD. Here the structure of the virtual CD
(NT-example):
Example (NT): D:\R3
D:\R3\DATA
D:\R3\DB
D:\R3\LABEL.ASC

After that copy file SAPSSDEF.001 from DVD4:\R3_DATA_II\data to that directory on

disk <disk:>\R3\data.
1) Copy the complete directory DVD2:\R3 to the virtual CD-directory on disk:
DVD2: R3 to \R3 including 8 subfolder and 81 file

Same procedure for the other components and the subdirectories: APO,BW,CRM,SEM,WP

2) R/3 only: copy DATA- file SAPSSDEF.001 from DVD4 to this disk directory:
DVD4:\R3_DATA_II\DATA to \R3\DATA 1 file

The Virtual-CD preparations are finished now. Please read the operating dependent chapters
of the installation on the next pages.

IDES-Installation with UNIX / Linux and Oracle

IDES-Installation with UNIX / LINUX and ORACLE

The following section describes all the installation steps for the IDES-System which are
different from the standard installation. For all other steps you should consult the standard
installation guide. For example the APO liveCache installation is not described here

Preparations: Modification of the installation template

DATABASE.R3S
With the required Kernel CDs for Unix/ORACLE installations there is no longer a command
file (=installation template) CENTRDB.R3S (to install Central- and Database-instance with
one template). Use the IDES in-dependent template CENTRAL.R3S and the IDES
dependent template DATABASE.R3S instead. R3SETUP executes DATABASE.R3S as default
automatically after CENTRAL.R3S.
Here you will find the manual steps which have to be done before starting the installation.
Modify template DATABASE.R3S manually. Follow the instructions on the text pages.
Background information can be found in the standard inst-guides: The R3SETUP Tool.
Modification of the CDSERVER section in the installation template:
Follow the standard installation guide and execute the Shell Script INSTTOOL.SH . After that
you can find the installation template DATABASE.R3S in the install-directory. Use an editor
(like vi) to modify that file. It consists of several sections. The beginning of a section is
always indicated by the section name in [brackets], see example on the next page. Find the
section [CDSERVER......] and modify it according to the example to make it
available for the installation. Please modify only the special grey and in bold type formatted
parts of the section (see the example below).

Workplace, R/3 , CRM/EBP with 4.6D SR1 Kernel:

In the install-directory in file DATABASE.R3S change manually one (1) line:
from: 3_LABEL=SAP:BASIS+WP+KW:4.6D SR 1:EXPORT(1/1)
CRM/EBP to: 3_LABEL=SAP:IDES-EDITION-V2:CRM/EBP:2.0C:
R/3 to: 3_LABEL=SAP:IDES-EDITION-V2:R/3:46C:
WORKPLACE to: 3_LABEL=SAP:IDES-EDITION-V2:WORKPLACE:2.11:
During the installation- due to the concept of the Basis-Kernel - you will be asked if you
want to install a BASIS, Workplace or KnowledgeWarehouse system. The answer has no
meaning. Therefore we recommend to mark BASIS.

BW , SEM with BW 2.1C Kernel:

In the install-directory in file DATABASE.R3S change manually one (1) line:
from: 4_LABEL=SAP:BW:2.1C:EXPORT(1/1):
BW to: 4_LABEL=SAP:IDES-EDITION-V2:BW:2.1C:
SEM to: 4_LABEL=SAP:IDES-EDITION-V2:SEM:30A:

UNIX/LINUX in general:

Size of the database:

Detailed information about the DB size can be found on page 4 or in the subdirectory DB
of each component in file DBSIZE.TPL (database software dependent).

See Note 0414305 for more information.

Installation
Follow the instructions in chapter General Preparations . Copy the DB-Export subdirectories
for each component from DVD to disk, or use the DVD directly as input to the installation
tool. To install the IDES R/3 component you have to copy the data on a disk.
After preparing the installation template manually follow the standard installation guides
and the latest version of the OSS installation notes. Depending on the operating system,
environment variables have to be set (see the standard installation guide).

IDES-Installation with NT

IDES-Installation with Windows NT

The following section describes the installation steps for the IDES components which are
different from the standard component installation. For all other steps you should consult the
standard installation guidelines. The information is usable for all IDES components.

Preparations
Here you will find the manual steps which have to be done before starting the installation.
The steps are common for all NT-platforms. The idea is to use an IDES-template (prepared
individually for each component) from the DVD from subdirectory IDES to build and load
the database. Available is:
CENTRDB.R3S
It can be used to install central and database instance on one machine. (see example).
Take care of the read/write permission after you have copied it from DVD to disk.

Example: Central Instance and database on the same host. Template: CENTRDB.R3S
1) insert DVD 4 and choose the necessary Kernel-subdirectory.
<DVD4\Kernel:>:\NT\COMMON\R3setup.bat
This step creates the install-directory <install-dir> \users\<SID>adm\install and copies the installation-tools
and different installation templates into it. Template CENTRDB.R3S should not be used because it requests
the standard DB-Export-CDs.
2) Build up a virtual CD on disk with the DB-Export data for each component from DVD. Follow the
instructions in chapter ‘General Preparations’.
3) Install central and database instance using the prepared template CENTRDB.R3S
insert DVD1,2,3 and choose the IDES subdirectory of the component you want to install
cd <install-dir>
delete CENTRDB.R3S
copy <DVD:\component>:\IDES\NT\<DB>\CENTRDB.R3S <install-dir>\CENTRDB.R3S
(This CENTRDB.R3S template requests exactly one virtual IDES CD on disk or on DVD. <DB> stands for
ORA, MSS. Attention: CENTRDB.R3S needs to have read/write-permissions!!!)
4) Start the installation as described in the standard installation guide using the IDES-template you
have copied under the name CENTRDB.R3S to your installation directory .

NT in general:
The IDES mySAP.com components are available on NT/Intel and Windows 2000.
Detailed information about the DB size can be found on page 4 or in the subdirectory DB
of each component in file DBSIZE.TPL (database software dependent). See Note 0414305
for more information.

Installation
Build up the virtual CD on disk as described in chapter General Preparations.
After preparing the IDES installation template follow the standard installation guides and
the latest version of the installation notes.

General Steps after the Installation

General Steps after the Installation

Components:
With this installation guide it should be possible to install the R/3 based components. In
addition, with APO you have to install the liveCache. Just follow the standard guides (see
also DVD 3, subdirectory Docu. - How the components have to be connected is described in a
special IDES installation guide. See note 414305 for more details. - Check table T000
which clients are available besides IDES client 800.

Transports:
After the installation there is transport request DD3K900015 which has to be imported in
the R/3-system. On DVD 4 in directory R3_DATA_II\COMMON are the corresponding
transport files. Import it using transport control program tp. See note 414305 for details.

Users:
In all components/clients you can login with user ‘DDIC’ and password ‘19920706’ and
create the userids you need. There are prepared userids with different profiles (see the
Workplace-documentation and ). And the system contains SAP userids. It is recommended
not to delete and not to lock them in the system. Only change passwords. Some of them were
used to start periodic batch-jobs, which will fail, when you delete or lock the userids.

ADD-Ons / Support Packages:

Use the transactions SPAM/SAINT or check the table AVERS to find out, which Add-ons
and Support Packages are installed in the different IDES components.

ABAP-Load:
To avoid compiling messages you can generate the report load. Please read note 0414305.
Summarized: With transaction se38 start report ZIDES_LOAD_GENERATOR or, if not
available ZTH_LOAD_GENERATOR. Leave the parameters as they are, and execute that
report in the background. It will run several hours. Take care of the database size: With
ORACLE increase tablespace PSAPEL46CD up to 4 GB. With MSS make sure, that there
is enough free space on disk.

Support:
Questions or problems, please open an OSS request with component XX-IDES. In case of
installation problems you can also use the installation components: for NT ‘BC-INS-NT‘
and for UNIX ‘BC-INS-UNX‘.
