Shooting script
Situated between London and Oxford lies High Wycombe, known for
its production of paper, cloth and furniture it is a quiet market
town just off the M40. With a rich and deep history dating back to
time of the Romans, its has since grown into the second largest
settlement in the leafy county of Buckinghamshire with a
population of over 133,000. Although the surrounding areas are
some of the most affluent in the country, Wycombe has areas that
are incredibly deprived and underdeveloped. Not only this but
there is a darker more sinister side to this town.
Over the course of just a few years 3 high profile cases emerged
of young men from the town who had been radicalized and left the
country to fight with terrorist organizations. One was an ex
grammar school student and only 18 years old, One had lived
locally his entire life and worked as a security guard at a local
supermarket and one was an unassuming young man who had converted

to islam at the age of 19. When Shabazz Suleman and and Omar
Hussain left the country they did so claiming they would be
providing aid work to the people of Syria, both ended up fighting
alongside ISIS forces. Thomas Evans however left for Somalia and
joined the group known as al-Shabaab. He was killed by Kenyan
defense forces in 2015 and his family were a part of the Channel 4
documentary ‘my son the Jihadi’. The programme ended up winning a
BAFTA and highlighted the affect radicalization can have, on not
only those directly impacted by their actions but also the family
and friends that they leave behind. Speaking to someone who knew a
friend who was radicalized I began to understand that truly anyone
can be radicalized.
But there are some working to change this, to inspire hope within
the people of this small community. Working to prove that people
of all faiths and cultures can live side by side in harmony and
that select instances would not define an entire population of
people.

Contingency Plan
The contingencies for this production will hopefully be kept to a minimum due to the
fact that there have already been problems regarding interviews etc. It is for that
reason that I am certain that none of them will cancel on me, however if one does for
example I will have someone else on hold just in case. This person is also a business
owner in Wycombe but I am very close to the individual with them living with me.
Because of this I can definitely rely on them to replace someone if they do have to
cancel in case of an emergency. I have learnt from my last productions and have made
sure to purchase a tripod in order to make my shots smoother, this was essential and
was done well in advance to filming weeks. I have also given myself ample time to shoot
my b-roll so that if there is an equipment problem I can resolve it and come back and
finish another day.
