Community Engagement Artifact

My artifact is a letter given by the school Huntington Park Institute of Applied Medicine
for volunteering in the Spring Interdisciplinary Showcase Night from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.The
Spring Interdisciplinary Showcase took place at Linda Marquez High School on April 12th, 2018.
During the hours I've volunteered, I was introducing groups, Bringing in groups to present and
time keeping to ensure the presentations are on schedule.

This artifact is an accomplishment because It has made me an Active Citizen by

volunteering in my community by helping the school staff during the Spring Interdisciplinary
Showcase Night. To achieve this accomplishment I had to be an effective communicator when
calling students in to present and answer any questions they had. This accomplishment is
special because I was able to help my schools staff’s job a little bit easier.

Student Learning outcomes used to achieve the artifact are active citizen and effective
communicator. I was an active citizen by volunteering to help my school with showcase night. I
was also an effective communicator because I was able to answer most of the student’s
questions.

This accomplishment has helped me grown as a young adult because I was able to be
coordinated and stay productive. I am able to use both these skills to become a hard working
successful college student. I learned that I am able to help my community out by taking time out
of my day and putting energy and effort to help out.
