A Glimpse of Mayor Gerardo V.

Calderon’s First 15 Days

Being a dynamic and hands-on leader, Mayor Gerardo V. Calderon has ensured that his first two weeks
in office would be productive and result-oriented.

On his first day, he was able to establish both a Municipal Peace and Order Council and a Municipal
Development Council. 83% of the council members are volunteers who selflessly engaged themselves
for the betterment of our beloved town.

Mayor Calderon devoted his first week to the reorientation and reorganization of vital community
sectors which would aid him in his performance as a true leader accessible to the people. Aside from
participating in the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Bayan, his first Monday as mayor proved to be
very busy, indeed, as he welcomed representatives from the Iglesia ni Cristo in Taytay, Rizal; the
Department of Interior and Local Government and the public school teachers of Angono.

On July 6, Mayor Calderon attended the joint induction of officers of the City Municipal Federation and
the Rizal Federation of Senior Citizens Associations (RIFOSCA) Executive Board at the Ynares Center in
Antipolo City.

Aside from visiting the Angono Public Market on July 7; Mayor Calderon was able to attend the activities
of local organizations such as the Federation of Angono Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association
(FATODA), the 118th Founding Anniversary of the Katipunan of Rizal Pamathalaan Workshop and the
meeting of the officers of the DOMSA Homeowners’ Association. Our energetic Mayor also met with the
officers of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines.

Our indefatigable Mayor’s second week was even more hectic as he started it by attending a medical
Mission organized by Micro Advance Financing. He also received the members of the faculty of the
University of Rizal System-Angono and conducted a meeting amongst the members of his staff.

In his commitment to deliver quality service to the people of Angono, Mayor Calderon also attended
several meetings with different National and Internal organizations also devoted to the upliftment of
lives.

On July 9, he attended a meeting led by the United Nations Population Fund-National Programme
Management Committee (UNFPA-NPMC) to address issues with regard to reproductive health.

On July 10, Mayor Calderon met with the members of the Angono Lifesavers Inc. (ALSI) to discuss a
Medical Surgical Mission to be held in the first quarter of 2011. Our Mayor also took time to visit
different locales and subdivisions in Angono to seek the participation of the people in his continuous
quest for town excellence. Mayor Calderon has visited Mahabang Parang, Bloomingdale, Saint Martin,
Duraville, and Richmond Subdivisions among others. During his encounter with the people, he has come
to learn the basic concerns and issues being faced by the ordinary citizen of our town.
July 12 was also a busy day for Mayor Calderon as he attended several activities which include the
following: Statement of Local Government Report (SLGR) utilization conference and World Population
Day Forum at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel. He also opened a photo exhibit entitled “Sipat Saliksik Lakbay
Buhay ng Kabataan Tungo sa Pangarap” sponsored by the Asian Social Institute held at the Tourism
Office of Angono. Our Mayor went to the Provincial Capitol to discuss local issues and concerns.

On July 13, Mayor Calderon was present at the Orientation and Briefing of the “Knowing my Local
Government Unit (LGU)” track 1-B of the Newly Elected Officials (NEO) Program of the DILG. This
included a Local Government Performance Management System (LGPMS) Seminar as part of the LGU’s
Comprehensive Development Plan Executive Legislative Agenda (CDP-ELA) which is the term-based plan
of the NEO. This seminar was held at the Maysha Hotel in Angono.

As if to test the tenacity and preparedness of our Mayor, Mother Nature presented us a challenge with
Typhoon Basyang which hit our town on July 14. Mayor Gerry Calderon took it upon himself to oversee
the immediate cleaning and restoration of affected areas. With his direct supervision and instructions to
the members of his disaster team, Angono seemed hardly affected by the calamity. The people of
Angono were able to savor the effects of our Mayor’s commitment to the prevention of, and swift
response to disaster.

Mayor Calderon’s 1st 15 days was capped off by his attendance to the Anniversary of the El Shaddai held
at the St. Clement Church.

Mayor Garry Calderon’s unwavering belief in participative governance makes him the Mayor for and of
the people. His day to day encounter and experience with hundreds of people a day keeps him in touch
with the realities and challenges that every citizen in Angono has to face each day. This makes our
Mayor awake and alive each day. It is his driving force to stay in tune to his motto “Keep Moving”. And
together with our dear mayor WE SHALL.
