Exercise on using corpus data

Corpus data helps to check the grammaticality and usage of words and phrases by
listing multiple sentences using that word or phrase.

(1) The following words have more than one meaning. Use the British National
Corpus to check for its multiple meanings. Write the different meanings and
make sentences with them for each word.

Note: For each word read all the sentences that pop up as examples to find the multiple
meanings of the word

1. round
2. back
3. like
4. look
5. sick
6. tag
7. hold
8. class
9. cut
10. nice

(2) Use the British National Corpus and write the difference between the following
phrases

1. allright/ all right

2. beside/besides
3. bear/bear
4. agree with/ agree to
5. such as/ like
