To Use Spot Color Matching with PANTONE®

To use the Spot Color Matching function with the named profile for PANTONE®, make settings following the
steps below.

IMPORTANT
• Named color profiles referred to in this guide are profiles compatible with the colors found within the Plus Series
PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® Coated Publications and the PANTONE® GoeTM System Coated Publications.
Therefore, Spot Color Matching is only applied to the Plus Series PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® Coated Publi-
cations and the PANTONE® GoeTM System Coated Publications.
• PANTONE® colors which have been printed out with Spot Color Matching applied may not match colors as
defined by Pantone, Inc.
• Named color profiles referred to in this guide are profiles compatible with imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5051/
C5045/C5035/C5030/C9075 PRO/C9065 PRO/C7065/C7055 series machines. Use with compatible products.
• If the product’s Controller Version in the PDF1.5 menu is 81.xx or earlier, use after setting [Matching Method] to
[Colorimetric]. Refer to the “e-Manual” for how to check the Controller Version.

Settings
Setting from the Printer Driver Screen
IMPORTANT
The Spot Color Matching function can only be set for a PS printer driver.

NOTE
• The printer driver’s properties dialog box can be displayed either from the application software or from the
[Printers] folder. Refer to the “e-Manual” for more information on your printer driver.
• Settings made in this procedure have priority over settings made in the Touch Panel Display. However, if “Spot
Color Matching” is set to “Printer Default” settings made in the Touch Panel Display have priority. Refer to “Setting
from the Panel on the Machine” (P.4 of this guide) for making settings from the Touch Panel Display.

1 Select the [Color] tab in the printer driver’s properties dialog box.

2 Click [Details].
3 Set “Spot Color Matching” to [On] and click [OK].

Setting from the Remote UI Screen
NOTE
• Refer to the “e-Manual” for more information on using DirectPrint from the Remote UI.
• Settings made in this procedure have priority over settings made in the Touch Panel Display.

1 Select [PDF File] from the [DirectPrint] menu.


2 Select the PDF file to print with [Specify PDF File].
NOTE
Select a PDF file. Spot Color Matching cannot be set for a PS file.

3 Checkmark [Perform Spot Color Matching] for [Color Settings].

Setting from the Panel on the Machine
NOTE
• Refer to the “e-Manual” for more information on operating the Touch Panel Display.
• Settings made with the printer driver and Remote UI have priority over settings made in this procedure.

1 Click (Settings/Registration) in the operation panel.

2 Click [Preferences>Printer>Printer Settings].

3 Click [Custom Settings].

4 Click [PS] or [PDF]. (Setting with [PS] will be described below as an example.)

5 Click [Spot Color Matching].

6 Click [On].

7 Click [OK].

8 Click [OK].

Variables
There are many variables in process reproduction of colors generated by the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5051/C5045/C5035/C5030/C9075 PRO/C9065 PRO/C7065/
C7055, any one of which may affect the quality of the PANTONE Color simulation, including:
• type of driver or RIP used
• type of paper used
• type of ink, toner or colorant used
• effective final resolution
• dot structures/halftones/screening
• print engine
