Problem Solving artifact

The artifact that I've chosen is my 11th grade IDP, which was based on the toxicity of our
water. We were able to conduct experiments at school with supplies provided by our teachers.
To conduct our experiments we had to gather water from our household and test it with iodine.
We were given iodine to test which toxins are in our water.

This artifact is an accomplishment because my group and I were able to educate our
community on how dirty our water really is and how to reduce the toxins in our water. To
achieve this artifact I had to conduct test and research. This accomplishment is important
because it has made me aware of how dirty our water is and how the toxins in the water can
affect our health.

Student Learning Outcomes used to achieve this artifact was Critical Thinker and
Effective Communicator. I was a Critical Thinker because I had to do a lot of researching and
conduct experiments to find out how dirty our community water is. I was an Effective
Communicator by informing my community about a serious issue that everyone just brushes off.

Presenting our project to our community has helped me grow by being able to present in
front of big crowds and educate our community on a major issue. Being able to speak in front of
big crowds will benefit me in college when having to work in groups and at a job that requires
leadership skills. Some areas I can improve on is to not stumble or mumble on words while
presenting. The 11th grade IDP is a great way to inform our community about toxins in our
water that can affect our health.
