According to the requirements, the volume of the ice coating on longitudinal meter is:
V = π * b * (d + b) = 0,002625 m3/m
While the load (on longitudinal meter) on the ice coating is:
Ice density, according to the standard EN 50341‐1 (in case is not determined by the National
Normative Aspect – NNA) can be:
In some of the countries where is a NNA, are defined the following values:
Gemany:
o NNA(t.4.4.6.1) = 750 daN/m3
Finland:
o NNA (t.4.5.1) = 500 daN/m3
Czech Republic:
o NNA (t.4.6.2. CZ.1) = 500 daN/m3
Great Britain:
o NNA (GB.3) = 500 daN/m3 (without wind) and = 900 daN/m3 (ice with wind)
Norway:
o NNA (2006) = 600 daN/m3 (wet snow) and = 700 daN/m3 (crystallized ice, frost)
Sweden:
o NNA (2006) = 917,4 kg/m3
According to the mentioned above, as well as the mentioned NNAs (especially the German national
normative aspect NNA which was mentioned in the tender as a request) does not correspond to the
actual conditions of the location of building the line. In each case is debatable.
If we adopt the weight of the ice in a tender (g = 1,6 * 0,18 * √d = 1,3447 daN/m), according NNA
Germany, this corresponds to the second zone (E2)
Ice load zone E2: g1 = 10+0,2xd ; gI = 14,36 N/m = 1,436 daN/m = 1,3447 daN/m
whereby the total diameter of the conductor (with frost covering) should be:
The radial thickness of the frost layer in this case is:
Because the thickness of the frost Cover (b) play a role in loads and OHTL dimensioning, especially in
case of reduced wind and ice, it should be examined and redevelopment.
