A. Manifest Destiny is the radical belief that the expansion of the US westward was

justifiable and was completely inevitable.

B. James K. Polk took California from Mexico in the Mexican American war. Manifest

destiny is the main belief that led to the Louisiana Purchase from France. We bought

nearly 830,000 square miles from France to expand our Western Borders.

C. Manifest Destiny, allowed us to expand our borders westward, and develop trade routes

by sea to Asia and open us up to the global market. It gave everyone new jobs and

opportunities.
