ABSTRAK

Kajian tindakan ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk menentukan sejauh


manakah keberkesanan penggunaan peta minda dalam membantu murid
Tahun 4 untuk meningkatkan kefahaman membaca. Responden dalam
kajian ini terdiri daripada lima orang murid Tahun 4 di sebuah sekolah yang
terletak di Daerah Gombak, Selangor. Kajian telah dijalankan dalam
tempoh 2 minggu mengikut perancangan. Dua pelajaran yang berlainan
dijalankan, satu dengan menggunakan kaedah tradisional dan satu lagi
melibatkan penggunaan peta minda. Instrumen kajian melibatkan
penggunaan ujian pra dan ujian pasca, pemerhatian, soal selidik, dan temu
bual. Hasil dapatan kajian menunjukkan murid Tahun 4 dapat
meningkatkan kefahaman membaca apabila kaedah peta minda digunakan
berbanding penggunaan kaedah tradisional semata-mata. Murid-murid
juga didapati lebih memberi perhatian terhadap proses pengajaran dan
pembelajaran.

ABSTRACT

The action research aimed to study the extent in which the use of graphic
organizers are effective in helping Year 4 pupils to enhance reading
comprehension. The research participants comprise of five Year 4 pupils
from a primary school in Gombak District, Selangor. The study was carried
out over a duration of two weeks. Two different lessons were conducted.
One lesson use graphic organizers and the other used a traditional mode
of teaching. The instruments used for the study are pre and post-test,
observation, questionnaire, and interview. The results of the study showed
that graphic organizers are effective in helping Year 4 pupils to enhance
their reading comprehension as compared to the traditional mode of
teaching. The pupils were also found to be more interested towards the
lesson when graphic organizers were used.

Using The Graphic Organizers in Helping The Year 4 Pupils To
Enhance Their Reading Comprehension Skills” yang dikemukakan
sebagai memenuhi sebahagian daripada syarat penganugerahan Ijazah
Sarjana Muda Perguruan Dengan Kepujian Pengajaran Bahasa
Inggeris sebagai Bahasa Kedua (TESL) Pendidikan Rendah. Pada
pandangan Panel Penyelia, karya ini telah memadai dari segi skop dan

throughout the journey of the research. The knowledge and insights gained

the right path in achieving the aspirations of being a quality and effective

teacher.
