famous by supporting him every step of the way. For example, a friend of David’s for
many years remembered when she first met David: “David invited me into his parents’
basement. Then, I was fourteen…” (Gillespie). This shows how long they had been
friends for. They remained close friends, supporting each other, until the day of his death.
