NON-FICTION RESPONSE ANALYSIS

1. The main idea of the text was to understand what happened the day of September 11th,
2001 and how many lives were lost and how it affected a great amount of people. It is an
unforgettable tragedy in this world, especially for New York.
2. I’ve actually read a couple of articles with stories of people that were affected by 9/11
and the connection I can make between this article and others is how a lot of people lost
loved ones and many were traumatized.
3. The author's purpose of the article was to tell the readers a personal story of someone and
that day 9/11. In the beginning of the article, the author informs the reader about a
woman that faces a tragedy.
4. The audience can be anyone, it's just an article that tells people what happened and what
some people had to go through.
5. There is no argument in this article because its someones personal story.
6. The most prevalent in the morning in the writing is Pathos.
- “The world lost 2 great guys on September 11.”
- “My brother Mike was a loyal friend [...]” .
- “They broke our hearts but not our spirits.”
7. A possible theme for this text can be: tragedy can happen, but life will go on.

8. This text helped me understand the different emotions people go through and how
something affects every person very differently.

10. OPTION 2: EXPOSITORY
Many tragedies happened on 9/11, lives were taken, hearts were broken, and it's
absolutely devastating. When the towers came crashing down in the streets of new york city on
9/1, people were extremely terrified. We lost a lot of great people. In the article, the author says,
“The world lost thousands of other greats. May were traders [...] firefighters, police officers,
scholars, thinkers, and dreamers”)McCabe). This tragedy left thousands dead and many were
torn to pieces. May lives were taken on this day and our hearts broken.
