Mr.

Rice
4/9/18

Dear Mr. Rice,

As part of the Health Science Career Pathway, we are required to perform a service project;
informing young kids about soccer and teaching them the sport. It is way to learn and discover
soccer. Soccer is a great sport for improving muscle tone and it also burns calories since
players are running and use their aerobic and anaerobic energy pathways. We will be hosting a
soccer camp and all funds will be for Century’s soccer program. We would have an entry of $5
per child to raise money for the program.

My classmates and I (Brittney Bertrand, Taylor Coleman) are willing to take this challenge to
inform young athletes who interested in soccer and even those who aren’t. In order to do so, we
will perform basic drills, technical footwork, and scrimmage. The foundations of soccer will also
be taught and the importance of teamwork.

The purpose of this service project is to have young kids exercise and create a memorable
moment. This correlates to Health Sciences because it is known that exercise creates a healthy
life and reduces the risk factors of obesity. The soccer camp will be a way for young kids to
experience being in a team sport and learning if they like soccer. Some administrators who are
willing to help out are Jose Luis Sanchez Rodriguez and Adam Billington. They will be our eyes
in which how we perform our soccer camp. They will also assist us by lending us soccer
equipment such as cones and soccer balls.

Sincerely,

Anthony Mejia
