Abstract
Casing design evaluation in geothermal wells is slightly different with oil and gas wells.
Things that make it different are that geothermal wells related to the high temperature
formation and the harder rocks compared to oil and gas wells. This paper will presents
method which are used to determining the casing design from geothermal wells with extreme
temperature loads. Things that need to be evaluated are casing grade choice and connection
which proper against loads that works in casing like collapse, burst, and axial loads
(tension) and loads because of temperature effect reduce casing strength, and age of casing
calculation because of corrosive fluids to reach production lifetime 30 years. With casing
design evaluatin that proper to things above, optimum casing design is expected to be
obtained.
