Galipan is a village located on the northern part of Caracas in the Avila national park.

Galipan owes
his name to a "cacique" called Galipa who lived in those lands and belonged to the Caribbean
nation.

If you want to get out of the noisy city and have some time to relax, Galipan is the best place. The
weather is really cold, is about 18,3°C and in January which is the coldest month is about 16,5 °C.

In Galipan you can find some places to stay and enjoy of this unforgettable village where you can
walk or ride a horse through the beautiful paths with your parents or your friends. One of the
most amazing walks is “El Picacho”, if you go there in no-crowded days you can delight your eyes
with the infinite Caribbean Sea that can be appreciated only from this mountain. Another amazing
place that you can find in Galipan could be “Jardín de las Piedras Marinas Soñadoras” which is a
museum of ecological art and is the only one in the world. Every pieces of art in that museum are
done by stones from the Caribbean Sea.

Nowadays, Galipan has been well known because the excellent gastronomy; you can find
restaurants of French, Thai food and others.

However, we have to emphasize the food stands that are located in the main street of the town
where you can enjoy all the different food options, you can buy sandwiches, boiled beef, hot
chocolate, punch of homemade cream, wines of blackberry, typical sweets, jams, cakes,
strawberries and peaches with cream, and last but not least important, the beautiful flowers and
floral arrangements of Galipan.

To go to this wonderful mountainous scenery you can climb from Caracas using a rustic vehicle
with four-wheel drive. The paved climb is very steep and beautiful. You will see many trees and in
the middle of these a beautiful view west of the Venezuelan capital. Another way to go to Galipan
is through the Waraira Repano Cable Car.
