None (0-5) 3.84 4.28 20.5 7.22

Mild (6-10) 3.40 3.84 15.73 7.45

Severe (16-21) 3.81 4.38 19.61 7.76

The results of the experiment indicated that students with no anxiety and severe anxiety

performed at similar, very high achieving levels. The students with mild and moderate levels of

anxiety also performed at similar levels, but not at as high of a level as the other group. This can

be explained by the fact that students with severe levels of anxiety are anxious because of the

rigor of their courses, and they are like students with a perfectionist mindset. These students

achieve highly, but they most spend a lot of time working and stressing to do so. Students with

no stress had a higher unweighted grade point average than any of the other groups, but they had

a lower weighted grade point average than the severe anxiety group. This implies that the

incredibly stressed students take harder courses but do not do quite as well in them. The students

with mild or moderate levels of anxiety are likely students that do not completely focus on

school, but still want to do well.

The final results were different than the results that had been predicted in the beginning

of this project because it had originally been predicted that the students with the mild and

moderate levels of anxiety would be higher than the students with no anxiety or severe anxiety.

Despite this discrepancy, the results do make sense. Though errors were few, there were a couple

of outliers due to different schools having different grading scales. For example, some students

had weighted GPA’s over 5.0. Due to the number of participants being over one hundred, this

likely balanced it out and minimized the impact these outliers had. With the data collection

completed, the next steps will be to create the final project, a website. This will be created

shortly, along with a display board highlighting the process and results of this project.
