Here by malofics and benefics are meant natural maletics
and benefics. A natural malefic ceases to be a malefic the

Stanza 2:—The object of the question will be
fulfilled if benetics join the ascendant or its own
vargas rise in the ascendant or the ascendant happens
to be a sirshodaya sign. If otherwise, the object will
not be fulfilled, If the influences are mixed, there will
be success after initial setbacks.
Notes
The above two stanzas are from Shetpanchasika.
Tho object of the querist will be realised when one of the
following combinations is present
(i) The ascendant is joined by benefic planets.
(li) The ascendant point has own or friendly vargas.
(lil) The ascendant happens to be a Sirshociaya sign.
Failure is shown when malefics rise in the ascendant and
the ascendant point falls in the vargas of matetic planets.
When the benefic and ‘naletic influences are balanced, there
will be ultimate success after initial raverses.
‘The Sirshodeye Resis (signs rising by head) are Gemini,
Leo, Virgo. Libra, Scorpio and Aquarius. The rest are
Prushtodaye Rasis or signs rising by their hinder parts.

Stanza 3 and 4:—The ascendant lord aspects
the ascendant and the significator aspects the
(appropriate) house ; or the ascendar..'ord aspects
the house and the significator aspects ascendant ; or
the ascendant lord and the signiticator are in mutual
aspect ; orthe Moon aspects both the significator
and the ascendant lord the object of the query will
be completely fulfilled.
Notes
Ifthe significator is the ford of the house a particular
query pertains to (Karyapa or Karyesa). Thus if a query
relates to acquisition of wealth, the significator will be the
lord of the 2nd; if it pertains to marriage the significator
Will be the lord of the 7th. As the stanzas aro quite simple
to understand, further explanation does not seem to be
necessary. The above twostanzas are from Bhuvana Pradeepa.
