Jules Verne (1828-1905) was born in Nantes, France, and he


started to write for the theatre when he was a student in
Paris. His first novel was Five Weeks in a Balloon (1862), and
he went on to write more than sixty other science fiction
and adventure books. He became one of the most famous
writers of his time.
