The roman numerals in the title refer to the chord progression that this next set of licks is
being played over. We’re in the key of Db, so II-V-I-VI re0presents Ebm7-Ab7#5-Dbmaj7-
Bb7#5.

My go-to scale (there are numerous options) for each chord would be:

Ebm7 - dorian, melodic minor

Ab7#5 - altered (A melodic minor)
Dbmaj7 - ionian, lydian
Bb7 - altered (B melodic minor), phrygian dominant (Eb harmonic minor)

Of course there will be plenty of outside notes as I love to use a lot of chromatic
embellishment within my lines, but this is a general guide line.
