Paper for Chapter IV

1.) Based on your knowledge upon reading chapter IV (Geneva

Law) is there a compelling need to develop the Geneva Law?
Why/Why not?
2.) Are there new categories of combatants that have emerged
recently? If there are any.
3.) Should a terrorist be afforded of any kind of legal protection
under the Geneva Convention?
4.) What are the problems that might arise if the Detaining Power
under Art 4 of Geneva Convention does not recognize the
government to which a member of regular armed forces
professes allegiance?
5.) Can detainees who are regular armed forces are or should be
precluded from claiming the status of PWO if the conditions
under Art 4. A(2) GC for “Members of other militias” have not
been satisfied?
