CONCLUSION

This report has discussed the concept of amplitude shift keying. The
objectives of this laboratory experiment were to generate and sketch the ASK signal
in the time domain using the two module, which is the Dual Analog Switch and
Multiplier. Also, to describe the characteristics of an ASK signal. Moreover, in order
for the group to accomplished the activity given, the TIMS module should be utilized,
along with the digital oscilloscope, BNC to BNC, connecting wires and digital
multimeter. The objectives were met, by strictly following procedures in the
laboratory manual, also by keeping track of the generated signals in accordance with
the principles of amplitude shift keying.

The two different amplitudes of the carrier frequency, binary values 1’s and
0’s are the important characteristic of ASK signal. The amplitude of modulated
frequency changes when it changes from 1 to 0. The source signal directly sends
analog and digital signals to a medium. For efficient transmission, the low-frequency
signal is translated to high-frequency signal. In this activity, it can be seen in the data
that there is an absence and presence of carrier, because the amplitude of a carrier
signal is modified in a discrete manner. In this case it is the OOK or the On-Off-
Keying. Additionally, it can be noticed that the envelopes of the ASK signal are the
same shape as the data stream. Lastly, it just shows that when the message signal is
high the frequency is high and the modulated signal will show, however when it is
low, the modulated signal will still remain zero.
