PE 2 Y TH
2012-01190 Reaction Paper on Ashtanga Yoga Session April 10, 2018
Since I was not able to attend the class last Tuesday, I won’t be able to tell if any other stuff about
what we did last Thursday is connected to what was done on my missed session. Everything I will
critique upon is solely based on the Thursday session I have attended.
The Ashtaga yoga session was very intense experience for me as a sedentary person. Even though
my physical activity was increasing slowly because of my two PE classes this semester, I was not
prepared for such a workout on that day. The common Thursday sessions for PE 2 Yoga class were
difficult but bearable since there was a fixed position under a certain time frame, which makes it
easier for me to have some time to adapt my breathing and to balance myself out. The Ashtaga
yoga session was a lot different and has an increased difficulty on it. If I was sweating hard for the
regular class session, I was sweating bucket loads on that day. For only two repitions of the Sun
Salutation A, I was already sore all over because it was fast-paced. It was a little hard to keep up
if you don’t know what you’re doing. I was thankful that my body has already memorized the
sequence so my only setback was how much weight my arms could carry during the downward
dog position.
The instructor was very observant on some mistakes in the poses we did, and she corrected it with
ease. She also helped me when I was carrying my weight and supporting my back using my bands
when we were trying to put out legs over our head and ears. She gave support to my back so I
wouldn’t fall. Even though I know I could do it on my own, the help was very much appreciated.
