Graph of moisture content against time (Figure 1) is plotted based on the results obtained.

According to the graph, it can be concluded that moisture content in the sand decreases with time
for all three different fan speed. During the drying process water content in the sand is evaporated
into the surrounding air. As time passed, more and more water is evaporated which will reduce the
moisture content in the sand. The average moisture content decreases with increasing fan speed.
This is because the greater the fan speed, the lower the humidity of air. Thus, more water is
evaporated and the moisture content decreases.

Based on the graph of drying rate against moisture content, drying rate decreases with decreasing
moisture content. During the drying process, moisture content in the sand is reduced while the
humidity of air in the chamber increases. The drying rate of sand is highly dependent on the
humidity of air in the tray dryer. Air with higher humidity will have lower capacity to hold water
vapour evaporated from the sand compared to air with lower humidity. When the air humidity in the
chamber increases, the evaporation of water from the sand hard to occur, thus the drying rate was
low.
