Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills – example two

I use my analytical and conceptual skills daily in the planning and organising of projects and workloads in my section, advising
management and developing processes and procedures.

More complex and specific examples of the use of my analytical skills are:

Investigations into breaches of the Australian Public Service (APS) Code of Conduct, and appeals against APS processes at the
Department of X
Investigations into Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and equity complaint issues at the Department of Y
Researching and analysing policy and company practices when writing the Performance Management Policy of Company A
Researching and analysing legislation changes and company practices, and liaising with the company legal representative,
when writing the company’s privacy statement for Company A
Formulating Company B’s probation policy including OHS and Health Management requirements

In all of these examples I have used my ability to diagnose and analyse each situation and develop an individual solution to
meet the needs or issues that arise. In many instances this has required me to look beyond the present situation and think
outside the box in an abstract manner, which I have done successfully on each occasion. These skills involve the ability to
picture the organisation as a whole and the relationship among its various parts. All of these examples have also involved the
writing of subsequent reports, briefs or policy papers.
