Lawyer Moms of America to Present Open Letter Opposing the Illegal & Inhumane
Practice of Separating Migrant Children from Their Parents to U.S. Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez

Brooklyn, NY – On Friday, June 29, local members of Lawyer Moms of America, led by co-chairs
Payal Shah, Esq. and Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon (D-Brooklyn), along with their allies will
gather to formally present the group’s open letter to Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez, which calls on
congressional representatives to end the separation of migrant families and reunite those who have
already suffered the separation from their children under President Trump’s zero tolerance
policy. Throughout the country, local Lawyer Moms will be presenting the open letter to their
congressional representatives.

Who: Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, Payal Shah, Esq., and Lawyer Moms from throughout
Congressional District 7

What: Formal presentation of the Lawyer Moms of America open letter to congressional
representatives to U.S. Rep Nydia M. Velázquez (CD-7)
