The morning sessions will provide a general overview to teaching mixed ability and large classes.
A demonstration lesson and analysis will be followed by a consideration of a variety of
approaches
The afternoon sessions will look more specifically at aspects of classroom management, and at
various communicative activities suited to teaching mixed ability and large classes.
After a brief introduction, participants will take part in a demonstration lesson, which will then be
analyzed by the group.
This session will focus on learner differences, and problems which may occur in mixed ability and
large classes. A variety of solutions will be considered in light of a number of general principles.
LUNCH
This session will focus on aspects of classroom management. We will then move on to consider
‘class contracts’, and then the benefits of project work.
This final session will look at various communicative activities which are well suited to mixed
ability and large classes.
