First of all, let’s say all the praises and gratitude to Allah SWT due to all of

His blessing, mercy and guidance upon all of us. Selawat and salam may
everlasting be upon our Great Prophet Muhammad SAW who have led us from
the dark into the bright path.
Secondly, thank you and good morning to our master of ceremony, our
honourable judges and member of the floor. For the next few minutes, please lend
me your ears to listen to my speech on “Exploration of Science, Maslahah For
All”

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, science defined as the

intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the
structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation
and experiment. Maslahah meanwhile defined by Imam Al-Ghazali as the
safeguarding of the purpose of Syariah which comprise: preservation of religion,
life, reason, descendants and property. Simply concluded my topic today
“Exploration of Science, Maslahah For All” means further research in science
that can be benefited to all mankind can be followed as long as it is not in contrast
with Syariah law.

Science and technology cannot be separated by areas of knowledge in

Islam. Science research lead to the greatness of God as described in the Quran in
surah Ali-Imran, verse 190: Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth
and the alteration of the night and the day are signs (which prove, wisdom and an
area of blessings of Allah) for those of understanding. History has also taught us
that Islam has produced many intellectuals in science since immemorial. Ibn
Haytham successfully changed the world with his modern optical methods.
Al-Zahrawi did much in modern surgery. Jabir Ibn Hayyan, intellect of modern
chemistry, developed process of distillation and the introduction of the basic
ingredients which forms the basis of modern chemistry such as acetic acid,
mercury and sulfur.

Science and technology development has brought positive change to us

and are closely related to a country's development. The progress of science has
brought happiness to all of mankind. Indeed many benefits we enjoy today is a
result of the successive development of science and technology. Hence, it is no
wonder if a country spend quite an enormous budget to develop science and
technology in order to create a well-off country. This phenomenon proves that
development of science induce more positive impact than negative effects.

In reality, no one can deny that the field of research and development has
contributed a lot in exploration of science and technology. In fact, in the Quran
Allah swt have stressed the importance of technology to improve the quality of
life of human beings in surah As-Saba’ verse 11 which means, “Make full coats
of mail and calculate (precisely) the link, and work (all of you) righteousness.
Indeed I, of what you do, am seeing.”

Studies and research carried out has helped produce prototype products in
various social and economic fields. Particularly in the agricultural sector, the
country will experience huge advances when using sophisticated science and
technology applications. Through our expertise in biotechnology, engineering
and agricultural technology will experience transformation. Modern techniques
in the field of planting, breeding and harvesting will help in improving
productivity. Biotechnology will also help in producing breeds, seeds and
pesticides to develop the agricultural sector. These technologies are not only to
improve the quality of food but also to ensure the continuity of food. Therefore,
continuous efforts in research and development can help to preserve ecological
crops that will improve the quality of life of the community.

As known to the public, development of science and technology rapidly

has contributed to the increment in the standard of living of humans such as the
creation of laser technology. Laser technology creation has played an important
role in the field of communications, industrial and medical. Currently, laser
technology is widely used in the field of telecommunication cable with optical
replacing the role of fiber. Wider laser stripe allows information such as sound
and voice are delivered more quickly and accurately. In addition, the industrial
field is also thriving with the use of laser. Laser is the latest breakers and cutter
tool’s technology. It is used to cut jewel, diamond, glass, and metal without
producing heat, noise and dirt residues. In fact, laser technology is also used in
the medical field such as in eyes surgery. Therefore, we can conclude that laser
able to improve human health and enhance the productivity and quality of the
industry and triggered developments in the field of communications and
industrial.

Fast-growing information technology today allows all information spreas

easily. With the creation of satellite, Internet connection accessible everywhere.
Metropolitan, small town and even in rural areas able to connect to the internet. A
variety of information can be obtained without limitation. By using information
and communication technology, the way of da'wah can be widely delivered to the
society. Family members and friends who live far apart between the continents
also able to communicate without obstacles. It can foster better relationship.
My respectful audiences,

We, humans are the servants of Allah SWT are Caliphs to the Al-Khaliq
in this earth. The responsibility to glorify the Earth shall not be taken
inconsequential. We, humans need to surrender ourself to Him completely. As
Caliph, we also is obliged to administer the earth and in the same time protect the
religion so it will never belittled. With this, the humans are able to maintain
themselves and their families from sliding into the abyss of fire. Based on the
points I mentioned just now, it is clear that exploration in science is a wasilah in
fulfilled. With knowledge of science, we recognize Him as the creator. As quoted
in surah An-Najm about human creation can be proved. With science, question of
faith can be dismantled. With science as well, life becomes easier. As easy as
ABC.
