Call for Proposals for Presentations

The Artistic Planning Committee for the 2019 WASBE Conference invites
submissions of proposals for presentations at the 18th Biennial Conference,
which will be held in Buñol, Spain from the 10th to the 13st of July 2019.
Presentations may take the form of lectures, panel discussion, workshops or
clinics and should be no more than 50 minutes in length. Any topics related to Symphonic Wind Bands/
Ensembles and their repertoire are welcome, including rehearsal techniques, artistry in performance,
appropriate repertoire at all grade levels, regionally significant repertoire, programming, marketing and
concert promotion, use of technology, composition and arranging techniques, and research related to
pedagogy and performance. The focus is on conducting, education, repertoire and marketing.
Historical aspects are not intended.

Proposal Guidelines
Proposals should be written in English and include the following:
• Name of the presenter(s)
• Postal address of presenter(s)
• Email address of presenter(s)
• Biographical Sketch of Presenter(s) (250 – 300 words)
• Title of presentation
• Abstract of Presentation (400 – 500 words) including 1) aim and purpose of the presentation, 

2) theoretical background, 3) synthesis of content, 4) conclusions and/or implications.
• Audio/Visual requirements for the presentation

Members of the Artistic Planning Committee will review and select appropriate proposals. Acceptance for
presentation will be subject to the final decision of the WASBE Board. Please note that it is not a
requirement to be a member of WASBE in order to submit a proposal. However, it is expected that at the
time of the Conference all presenters will be a member or student member of WASBE and register for the
conference.
Proposals may be submitted electronically as PDF or MS Word documents. Proposals
should be submitted by 30 October 2018 to:
