Lesson idea implementation:
This is a whole group lesson. The lesson should take 15 minutes. The teacher will begin by holding up two
objects (two books) and asking the students, “How many books do you see?” Once the students have
responded with the answer the teacher should provide positive feedback. If the teacher notices students with
uncertainty he/she should provide another quick example. Before the teacher begins the PowerPoint
Presentation or MP4, inform the students that they will be required to answer allowed when the question is
asked within the PowerPoint. By the end of this lesson students will be able to say, “I can count to show a
given number up to 20 by counting out objects”.
Through this lesson the students are developing their number sense. To further this lesson to a LoTi 4 and
extend on the standard, provide the students with a mini lesson on how to use PowerPoint on the classroom
laptops or in the computer lab. Allow the students to partner up and create a PowerPoint similar to the one
presented.
Reflective Practice:
To extend the students learning, the students will get into groups and collect similar objects around the
classroom. They can collect 20 or less objects in the classroom. Each group will present to the class how many
similar objects they found.
