An analogy is often made between the behaviour of electric circuits and water flow in pipes. State the conditions under which this analogy holds. Can this analogy be readily applied to oscillatory circuits? electrovacuum lamps - triode? diodes? semiconductors? superconductors? logical elements? You may even try to create and demonstrate the analogy to some common electric device containing active and passive circuit elements such as “water radio”.
2. Sticky balloon (IPT 2016)
When a balloon is rubbed on your hair it can often be made to stick to the ceiling. How long can such a balloon hang suspended? How does this time depend on its size, weight and the ambient conditions?
3. Wireless energy transmission (IPT 2014)
Make a setup to wirelessly transfer the maximum amount of power possible from a normal AA type battery. The energy transmission should be continuous and there should be at least one meter of air between the energy transmitter and receiver. The transmitter and receiver size should not exceed 20x20x20 cm.
4. Battery Cry (IPT 2013)
Fabricate the AA type battery powered sound source (i.e. continuously converting electric energy, stored in the battery, into sound) which is as loud as possible.
5. Curve Match (IPT 2012)
Why a horizontal lighted match will be curled up after burning down? However vertical match remains flat. Try to obtain the form of a match burnt at a certain angle.
