The piece in fact uses only retrograde versions of the inversion, somewhat sparingly
in three modulated positions see (b) for one of them.
The piece commences with an intertwining of the hexachordal material and a
bending of the ‘rules’ to allow the repetition of tones 78910 and 123 before the
whole series is stated and ‘displacement’ of 2,3 and 9,10 to 3,2 and 10,9.
