R K O PALACE

FRIDAY EVENING
October 23rd

-I93I-

ALBANY NEW YORK

new theatre, the RKO Palace, is shared throughout America,

from Hollywood to New York, from New Orleans to Montreal.

The RKO Palace is the newest theatre, and one of the most

beautiful, in the East, and Radio-Keith-Orpheum has paid

Albany a high tribute in selecting it as the location for one of
the world’s outstanding places of amusement.

This new theatre, situated in the heart of Albany, is

easily accessible from all parts of the Capital District. Here

hundreds of thousands of persons will meet each year in the
ceaseless search for diversion and happiness in the theatre.

We welcome our guests tonight, and acknowledge their

cordial salutations. Radio-Keith-Orpheum is proud to show

you its newest and finest theatre, which for beauty, splendor

and modern comfort is unequalled. The RKO Palace is your

theatre, built in answer to the demands of Albany amusement-

seekers. We trust it merits your approval and enjoyment of

its premiere performance and luxurious atmosphere.

ITH the dedication of Albany’s new RKO
Palace Theatre, Radio-Keith-Orpheum experi-
ences a distinct pride in contributing another
place of wholesome amusement as a civic asset
to this municipality. To this cosmopolitan public we dedi-
cate with a full sense of responsibility which such public
it

service demands.
Since the establishment of the Radio-Keith-Orpheum Cor-
poration, its policies have had certain clearly defined objectives.
Among these has been the expansion of the number of play-
houses to provide a well-balanced circuit of theatres from coast
to coast.
The RKO Palace in Albany is the fourth new link to be added
to RKO’s expansive chain of theatres this season. Other new
playhouses that have already been dedicated within the last

few months are: The RKO Hollywood in Fort Worth, Texas;

the RKO Plasa in Schenectady, New York, and the RKO Para-
mount in Cincinnati, Ohio. Now under construction are:
The RKO Orpheum in Davenport, Iowa, and the new RKO
Orpheum in Denver, Colorado.
The recent addition of the Pathe studios to its resources
brings under the RKO banner additional outstanding per-
sonalities of the screen, as well as increased sources of splendid
entertainment.
By these additions, we hope the communities served will see
evidence of our confidence and optimism in the business out-
look locally and nationally. We feel that the operation of
these new theatres and sources of entertainment will not only
provide the opportunity to continue our policy of giving the
public the highest possible standard of entertainment values,
but will aid employment and contribute many other local

advantages.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Radio'Keith'Orpheum expresses its gratitude to the Mayor and other
city officials, civic organisations and citizens, also to the architect,
contractors and workers on the new RKO Palace Theatre, for their
inspiration and co-operation.
ITH opening of the
the oper RKO Palace Theatre,

RKO reaches another important mile-post in

growth and expansion

expa: which has been going on
steadily since its organization. This important

amusement enterprise has made rapid strides in development,

in progress and in production during the year now nearing its

end. Reaching from coast to coast, new territory and new

theatres have been added, and RKO policies and programmes

have been introduced for the entertainment and enjoyment

of hundreds of thousands of additional patrons since the dawn

of 1931.

Of vital importance and of major interest is the show

itself — its character and quality.

Equally important is the responsibility toward our patrons

on a circuit of this magnitude, where approximately 10,000,000

persons are entertained each week.

Also besides providing the precautions and media of comfort,

sanitation and safety, ours is the duty of service and courtesy.

In all the foregoing, our personnel is well schooled and well

versed. This new RKO Palace Theatre, like all others through-
out the length and breadth of this country, is dedicated to the

best interests of the community it serves and to the recreation

and wholesome amusement of its people — of this and future

generations.
