Driving Through The Sinkers

By Dalimbar

What makes a place like Osiris a sinker? Hell, what really makes a Sinker a sinker? When one thinks of the action of sinking, it is typically in a downward
motion to the unknown, perhaps to a dark place. One is forced to climb out to escape.

But does that happen in what we call Sinker regions? Arguments have raged as to what actually constitutes the “sinkers”, especially when trying to decide
whether or not to include The Rejected Realms. It may have the “sinker” tag, but some point out it is mechanically and perhaps culturally different from
Lazarus, Osiris and Balder. Both are true. However, one can argue that TRR is the only region a nation can “sink” to, while the other three are only places
of rebirth. Or as a guy named Max Barry said of Lazarus, a “welcome-back region”.

All I know is that when driving through the sinkers, your car will get stuck.

Osiris, Osiris Fraternal Order

Capital: Thebes
Demonym: Osiran
Government: Monarchist Meritocracy
Alignment: Raider, Sinkerist
Head of State (Delegate)/Government: Altino, Pharaoh of Osiris
Legislature: Council of Scribes
Security: Council of Guardians
Creation: 2011
Pop: 5,121 (21:38 PDT 08/07/2018)

I started my journey at home, in a dingy bar in one of the less-travelled parts of Osiris. Small place, got the job done. It was home for me, especially after
returning from exile. I pretended the bar was mine, I ran it after all. But as we all know about Osiris, from the KRO to the Second OFO, from the time yours
truly was Pharaoh onwards, it's that the Pharaoh owns all. Doesn't matter if the Pharaoh of the day is benevolent or inept or malicious, they are chosen
mysteriously, perhaps with divine intervention, to rule us all. Our current Pharaoh, Altino, she's a great one. The last few, Cormac, NK, and Syberis, have
been good. My business has been left in peace.

I like my bar. It's the last remain of a foolhardy dream to erect the biggest one in the world when I was Pharaoh many moons ago. Somehow, after my
abdication through to the creation of the OFO to now, it stands. Oh, I'm sure many of my successors wished it to burn. I’m sure I wanted to burn it down
myself at one point. But could they find it in the ever-shifting sands?

That's the beauty of Osiris. Sand makes up both time and space here. One minute you're driving down the road, gazing at the massive dunes to the side
jutting into deep blue sky, while the next your car just… stops cold. The sands shifted enough to cover the road completely, and in part because of that
wicked rainstorm we had three months ago (or was it longer, or heck, shorter than that?) the sand becomes… quick.

I can just barely make out the Pyramids from here, and I may be close enough to a small Sekhmet Legion outpost. How much liquor do I have with me?
How much water? Why in that order? Our Legionnaires are parched in the desert too. They need to have a thirst-quencher, same as anyone else.

I see in the far distance a Legionnaire running towards me. The car is starting to be swallowed by the sands. I flag him over as the car goes deeper and
deeper into the dune.

I want to note here how the Sekhmet Legion pulls through. By the time 'Arif Josh meets me, a tow-truck is in toe. With perhaps a couple seconds to spare,
the Legion truck jumps in and tows my baby home. I lucked out that time. So did 98 other drivers that night. The Sekhmet Legion pulled out a record
number of drivers from the pits of despair. Good soldiers, all of them.

With my escort Josh and his bottle of cider, we race off to the capital, Thebes. It feels like the city had been here for at least as long as I have been here
on this earth, but I know it hasn't. The city is cleaner than last time I was last here properly. Sure, I stopped by once or twice a year to make sure my bar
on the outskirts of town is still there and pays what is owed. But last time was…

The sands of time in Osiris ebb and flow, some moments taking longer than weeks. So, who really knows?

Fine. We'll go with that. Point I was making was that Thebes has really improved. No more bullet holes on the pyramids and temples. No more mortar
blasts on concrete. It's a new city, but ancient. Until it went all black as I had a bag over my head.

The main interesting thing after that was being carried around Thebes (my old stomping grounds) to the Pharaoh herself. The “Old City” feels like it was
from 2013, not 2011. Old city my arse. I like what she has done with the palace. Seems more open, even compared to Cormac’s reign. Or mine.

We talked about how Osiris was, whether or not the world really was interested in the Rahlspiracy, and the best way to stab people?

I was carried the rest of the way to the border on the shoulders of Syberis, Guardian and a fellow ex-Pharaoh of Osiris. He is a man’s man for carrying me
all that way. Until, that is, he unceremoniously dropped me in front of the border post. He said something foul, winked, and left.

RMB Activity

The RMB is a vital resource of new citizenry in Osiris. Mike was drawn
to our region by people he met on the RMB. We’ve seen characters
who’ve served our region as friends, citizens, Viziers, and all sorts of
things - like Rallori and Diaz! - come from the RMB. There are many
more really cool people who speak there every day but aren’t being
reached out to in a way that makes them want to stay, but we can
change that!

Join the RMB Dream Team! Trick innocent nations into becoming
a permanent part of Osiris!
