Vitamin A functions:
Prevents night blindness; maintains health of epithelial cells
(namely skin and passages open to exterior of body) - these
cells secretes mucous which coats and protects the skin and
without vit A, cells can't produce mucous and this leads to
keratinisation of mucous membrane; development of
skeleton tissues, helps in formation of tooth enamel

Deficiency of Vit A: Rickets, bowlegs, enlargements of bones,
osteomalacia, decalcification of bone shafts and chances of
bone fracture incrreases
