Sale of Live Cattle Imported for Eid-Ul-Adha 2018

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection wishes to inform the public
that, with effect from 27 July 2018, the retail selling price of imported live cattle from South
Africa for Eid-Ul-Adha 2018 should not exceed Rs 134.00 per kilo.

The price is in force for the period 27 July 2018 to the day following two days after the
religious ceremony of Eid-Ul-Adha in the year 2018.

Traders are informed that the retail price should be affixed in a conspicuous place where
the sale is being effected.

The public is hereby reminded that the cattle should be weighed in their presence before
purchase.

Any person who: -

(i) sells cattle at a price higher than Rs 134.00 per kilo;


(ii) fails to affix the retail selling price;
(iii) fails to issue a receipt; and
(iv) fails to weigh a cattle in the presence of the buyer or his representative, shall
commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding
Rs 100,000 and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years.
