In a high temperature system and absence of stoichiometric air/oxygen, organic

material will undergo a process called pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is an endothermic

reaction that controls combustion process. The pyrolysis decomposes organic
compounds into more simple compounds; usually the organic waste will be
fractionated into methane (CH4), ethane (C2H6), and carbon monoxide (CO), which
has a high heating value.
