The Royal Belum State Park is a huge park in the northern parts of Peninsular
Malaysia. The huge park is part of the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex (BFTC) which is
shared with Thailand. Within the state park, you can see wildlife like elephants, deer, wild
boars and birds. There are a few endangered animal species that live within the state park such
as Malayan tigers, Sumatran rhinoceros and Malayan sun bears. This is one of the places to
visit if you want to see the Rafflesia as there are three species of this biggest flower here.

There are a lot of attractions at the Belum State Park such as the Pulau Tujuh
Waterfalls, the Pulau Talikail Lookout Tower and the Temenggor Dam. A lot of interesting
activities can be done as well. You can go searching for the rafflesia or pay a visit to Kampung
Chuweh, an Orang Asli village.

Visitors do not have to worry about the accommodation here. You can find some
famous resorts around the Royal Belum State Park. The most popular ones are Belum
Rainforest Resort, Belum Eco Resort and Banding Lake Side Inn. There are also local
restaurants nearby the park. The rule of thumb is of course to try the delicious local food.

Question 4

To : shiela@gmail.com

Subject: Getting New Friends

Dear Shiela,

How are you and your family? I hope everyone is doing well. My family and I are doing
fine. Miss Lee and our old classmates send their regards.

In your last e-mail, you said you were feeling lonely since you moved to your new
school. I think it is time for you to start make friends with people in your class. Look for
opportunities to talk to your classmates and learn more about them. If things go well, invite
them to do something with you outside of school, which will help you develop a friendship.

Other than that, maybe you could join the English Language Club or the Interact Club
like you did previously in our school. Joining clubs is a good way to make friends because you
can meet people who share the same interest as you. You could also join a sports team as you
will have opportunities to meet and talk to your teammates frequently.

A good way to get closer to someone is to ask them questions about themselves. You
could ask them about their hobbies, family or pets. Take note on things that the person is most
interested in or passionate about.

I have to sign off now. I wish you all the best. Goodbye.

Your friend,
Melanie

Question 5
Read the poem below carefully. Then, answer questions (a) – (d).

NEWS BREAK
Now why so loving, darling,
And why the sudden kiss?
You's help me with some little jobs?
For goodness sake, what's this?

Your face is clean for once, dear.

Your clothes without a crease.
You saved your luncheon money?
Will wonder never cease?

No dropping of your school books,

No shrieking, childish treble.
Today you are a lamb, love,
Where yesterday a rebel.

But surely you're some stranger,

No rage or hullabaloo.
Come closer, let me look, dear,
Can this be REALLY you?

Now were you struck by lightning

Or were you stunned at sport?
Ah... now I see the reason.
You've brought your school report!
