Objective 2.12 The student will write stories, letters, and simple explanations.
a) Generate ideas before writing.
b) Organize writing to include a beginning, middle, and end for narrative and
expository writing.

Activity This learning activity will get the students involved in creating their own story with a
theme of exercising self-control.

The class will begin by having the teacher going over what is meant by self-control.
The teacher will then have the kids share some examples where they were
successful in exercising self-control.

Relating to the SOL standards, the student should be able to generate ideas before
writing. The student should be able to organize writing to include a beginning,
middle, and end for narrative and expository writing.

The website that the students will use is https://www.mystorybook.com.


It allows anybody to create their own story, in this case the student is
going to create their own story with a theme of self control.

In this story, the students will include the following information:

• What is meant by Self Control?


• Brain Storm ideas to include in their story.
• Organize the ideas with a clear beginning, middle and end for their personal
narrative on exercising self control.
Pedagogy

• The strategies that work for each of them like counting, or deep breath,
movement and exercise when it is required to use self control.

create a story. You have the power to decide - choosing characters, taking them on

adventures and creating your very own story along the way. My StoryMaker can
create sentences for you or you can enter your own words. Once you are done with
your story, you can print it out or share with friends and family.
Directions 1. First open the internet.

4. Next, type in your name.
5. Choose your main character.
6. Write your story, add the scenery, objects as required from the toolbox on
the right.
7. Stories can then be viewed and returned to by using a magic code.
8. They can also be shared, downloaded, or printed.
9. Although stories can be saved, the author does do have the ability to go
back and edit once the story has been ended.
