1. Perkembangan teknologi yang sangat pesat, peralatan laboratorium

konvensional telah mengalami otomasi dengan kapasitas
throughput yang tinggi namun ukuran yang makin kecil, dan
kebutuhan sampel dan reagen makin sedikit.
2. Penemuan berbagai biomarker baru menyebabkan jumlah
parameter pemeriksaan laboratorium meningkat
3. Kebutuhan pemeriksaan yang cepat dan dekat dengan pasien
(POCT)
4. Internet of Things (IoT), segala sesuatu terhubung dengan internet.

Future Challenges:
Three trends that are driving equipment in the Lab.

1. Downsizing Equipment
Efficiency and convenience → smaller equipment: allows more
space, more efficient speed.
2. Increased Throughput
increased and faster performance, increased throughput of
materials: accelerated results & more efficient performance
overall
3. Decreased Sample Size
The smaller of sample sizes, the smaller the quantities are of
these chemicals and reagents, the less the lab has to spend.
