Team: There will be group discussions during class [Health and Safety].

Grading: This Research Paper will be a component of the “Final Grade.”

REQUIREMENT:

Research – Complete a ‘Technical Business’ analysis of the BP Oil Spill and the
‘Leadership’ response by the BP Parent Corporation and engineers.
Describe the actual oil spill in the drilling process and the impact on the region.
Review the current BP management culture, safety culture, and safety record.

Research – Current status of BP as a global company [financials, profit, etc.].

Discuss and conclude if managing this type of ‘Technical Business’ how to

prevent such a major disaster to people, environment, and any global region.

Refer to the ‘SWOT’ Analysis [Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats] to

develop your thoughts to prepare your research paper.

History – March 23, 2005 BP’s Texas refinery explosion.

__April 2010 BP’s oil rigs suffered a fatal explosion on the United States Gulf
Coast.
