CONGRATULATIONS TO TCMC!

Message from Dr. Felino SM. Angeles, Jr., President, TCMC

Meet our new Nursing Board Passers!

“Phenomenal - 94.11% passing rate for New TCMC Nursing graduates! 16 out of 17 examinees. Much ear-
lier, some faculty members of Nursing told me that they were expecting a hundred per cent passing rate
(Braggarts, ha, ha, ha) The National passing Average BTW, is usually from 35 to 44 per cent. The exami-
nee who did not pass was conceiving and was having difficulties reviewing, but we have no doubt that she
will pass when she takes the exam.
We have a festive air here today although two or three staff were a bit sad about the missed opportunity -
that we did not achieve a 100 percent. This was our chance for a perfect score in Nursing but I am positive
about the continuing success of our Nursing graduates. Two
years ago, in another field, one accounting graduate took the CPA
exam and passed - 100 percent!
We are very proud to publish the names and photos of the board
passers. Please join me and the whole TCMC administrators and
staff in congratulating them, their parents and their sponsors for
their success!”
Thanks to Uncle Mon Mateo for his recent visit and for viewing our

OUR TRIP TO THE PHILIPPINES

I will never forget my family’s trip to the Philippines from August 3rd to 19th. It’s been more than
seven years since we last visited it. We spent over 16 days meeting people and sightseeing in
many places in Luzon and Mindanao. On our first day, my family visited the University of the
Philippines, my parents’ alma mater and saw the Oblation, a concrete statue which is the iconic
symbol of the University depicting a man facing upward with arms out to symbolize offering to
his country. I thought this was a nice way of starting our journey!
The next day, we drove to our hometown in Morong, Rizal to meet my
Lola, Enriqueta Angeles and my other relatives. Finally, I was able to
see and touch again the chico tree that my Lolo, the late Francisco
Angeles, planted the day I was born. My sister, Iya, was also able to
see and touch her guava tree! On our way to Villa Escudero that same day, we visited
the memorial of the Battle of Mabitac which my paternal great-grandfather, former
Laguna Governor General Juan Cailles led as commanding general. At Villa Escudero,
a nature resort, we toured the museum and had lunch at its river and man-made falls.
Back in Quezon City on our 4th night, my family hosted a reunion of my paternal great-
grandfather’s relatives, the Cailleses, at the house of my Uncle Pepot in Quezon City.
That weekend on Saturday, we traveled back to Morong to meet my parents’ friends
and other family members. We also attended the 85th birthday party for Lola Susana
San Miguel on Sunday before hearing mass at the Morong Church. I was told I was baptized in this magnificent
church 11 years ago in 1999!
For our trip to the Philippines, we planned a 4-day visit to the City of Davao located in the island of Mindanao.
We met my godmother and mom Leni’s friend, Thess, and had lunch with my niece and her mom. My family
and I then went to Eden’s Nature Park where we saw beautiful sceneries. We even had the chance to do
‘Indiana Jones’: a mini zip line that my sister and I did over and over again! The next day, we headed off to
Samal Island where we took a boat ride to the Paradise Island resort and enjoyed their beach. We also visited
the Philippine Eagle Center where we saw several eagles and other animals. We also went to the Crocodile
Park and saw many crocodiles, snakes and lizards! We even took
pictures of us touching a baby crocodile and a big snake!
The day we returned to Manila from Davao was our 10th day in the
Philippines; we spent the rest of the day in Cainta and Antipolo where
we hanged around with my cousins. The next day, we drove back to
Morong to participate in the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan and Lake
Shore’s charity event. Their mission was to distribute school supplies
to children in Morong schools. We went to Roman Tantiongco Elementary School in Wawa
and helped giving out supplies to the students.
On August 13th, my father, Mario, was the guest speaker at University of Rizal System
(URS) for their 66th foundation day. He talked about the importance of history and his ex-
periences with finding about his grandfather and his long-lost relatives.
The following day (Day 11), he had another lecture at Tomas Claudio Memorial College about applied social research. That same
day, we went to the Mall of Asia in Manila, the biggest mall in the country. We noticed that there were tons of people inside the mall!
We also met my father’s former colleagues from URS. We were tired once we got out of the
mall!
The last few days, Days 12 to 16, had been very impor-
tant for my sister and I because we got to spend quality
time with our Lola and we also were able to go
around the town where I spent the first year of my
life. My sister and I rode the tricycle and jeepney!
We also visited the Morong Market in Paglabas
after eating in Jollibee. Best of all, we played
sungka with my Lola! We left the Philippines for the
United States on August 19th. I love the Phil-
ippines! I love Morong! I wish we will have another visit soon! ■ - Nemo A. Sto. Domingo, Maryland
