I-Fundamentals of Business Administration.-
Basic knowledge in Business Administration is essential in today's world. Even non-
economists and executives in particular, are required to possess basic economic skills.
Managing projects, for example, besides technical knowledge, requires expertise in
planning, human resources management and organization, accounting, controlling and
finance, among others. What are the fundamentals of economic behavior? Which notions,
concepts, and instruments are essential to economic success?

This introductory course provides an overview of core concepts in business


administration. It covers topics such as fundamentals of management, leadership,
accounting and finance.

2- Role administrator and manager.

Roles and Responsibilities of Manager: In business administration, a manager is


responsible for giving directions to activities that help organizations to achieve
their individual goals. Measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of a manager is
determined by the degree to which appropriate objectives and scope. Managers act
by relationships are two-way roads; the party is subject to the other.

The Role of the Business Administrator: In business administration,


administrator profession is very varied depending on the level where the
administrator is situated, must live the planning, organizing, even the decision-
making process. The more the administrator worries to know or learn how tasks
are executed, but will be prepared to act at the operational level of the company.
An administrator must know as a spending budget or forecast sales as an
organization is built or flow program, as a balance is interpreted as planning and
production control is made, etc. as these skills are valuable for Management,
however the most important and fundamental is knowing how to use them and in
what circumstances to apply properly.

The business administrator understands business operations and processes. A


day-to-day role may involve accounting, finance, marketing, economics, statistics,
human resources and decision-making. In a small organization, the business
administrator might manage administrative support services; large organizations
may have several layers of administrative managers who specialize in different
areas from human resources to facilities management.

Generalist Role

The business administrator's specific role depends on the company and the job
description, but in general, the administrator is charged with facilitating efficient
operations. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the business
administrator can affect company productivity through management of employee
morale, and as part of her personnel responsibilities, she might be expected to
supervise clerical and administrative personnel. Other areas that my fall under her
purview include recommending changes to policies or procedures to improve
operations, planning budgets for contracts, equipment, and supplies, and
monitoring the safety equipment and facilities to ensure that they comply with
government regulations.

Sector-specific Roles

Some business administrators specialize in a specific area in which they have


knowledge and experience such as accounting or facilities management. Sectors
where business administrators typically work are education services, health care,
state and local government, professional, scientific and technical services, and
finance and insurance.

Company Organization

The administrator’s role is often to communicate business status and activities to


upper management or those tasked with decision-making and company policy. The
administrator might play an important role communicating between staff and
management. Effective communication and organization skills are critical and the
ability to work with people from different backgrounds. Critical thinking and
negotiation skills are used day-to-day in business transactions and interpersonal
relations.

Public vs. Private Sector

A business administrator’s role varies depending on whether the job is with a


public or private organization. A paper by the Brookings Institution illustrates the
differences in business models that exist between public and private organizations
and the setting of company policy. In a private organization decisions are made by
individuals usually with the goal of maximizing profits; in this environment the
administrator may require significant business savvy and be able to pinpoint new
business opportunities. In either type of organization the administrator is a point
of contact for clients and potential recruits, and they're expected to serve as an
ambassador for the company and maintain relationships that lead to successful
future partnerships.

Role of Business Administration:

1. Construct and develop administrative or departmental objectives, rules


and techniques.

2. Supervise and Direct an organizations budgetary, financial, and


commercial activities.

3. Manage overall activities related to manufacturing products and being


responsible for the services.

4. Introducing updates by applying the latest technologies in the workplace.


5. Arranging meetings/discussions with staff, board members, and other
executives about operations.

6. Exchanging or approve contracts & agreements.

7. Hiring managers and department heads.

8. Always they should analyze sales reports, financial statements, and other
performance indicators. And they need to identify the situations/places to
cut the costs to improve performance, programs, and policies.

If situations demand, you need to manage other departments also, like operations
management, hospitality management, retail management, sales management, and
general Management.

3- Functions of Business Administration.

A Business Administration has two functions. One is to be the long arm of the
Municipality and the Business Promotion Branch within the jurisdiction of the
Business Administration and to implement municipal and Business Promotion
Branch policies among the businesses in the district. The Business
Administration’s second function is to be the voice of the district’s business owners
vis-à-vis the Municipality, so that the Municipality is more attentive to their needs.
It is an organized body which operates and works with business owners in making
decisions and formulating procedures in accordance with the mayor’s policy of
public participation and encouraging the involvement in municipal decision
making in day-to-day life.

4- Importance of business administration

Business administration is a wide field which includes many kinds of management


positions. From higher businesses to independent business, every operation needs
skillful administrator in order to get success. Because, normally they have lots of
enthusiasm, they always prepared for the things to face. The people who are
motivated and organized those personalities can grow well in business. Because,
wherever the environments are high powered and know how to deal with
pressure, that will help you to keep yourself cool and it will keep your business on
track.

In any business, every single day actions is as important as long-term strategies for
the future. A career in business will give you an opportunity to get a touch on
leadership dynamics, ethics, information technology, and international
relationships. There is a fantastic growth in this field. Even rewards will be high.

In business administration, Management is a social organ specifically charged with


making resources are productive, reflects the important spirit of the modern time,
it is essential and this explains that once created grew with a great pace. The
business administration seeks to achieve objectives through people, by using
techniques within a company. It is the main subsystem within an organizational
system. It includes any organization and life force that connects all other
subsystems.

Fundamentals and Functions of Business Administrator:

It is important if a company or institution we would like to refer, regardless of the


importance of the establishment or application will have a model like, in this case,
is the administrative process, we should also refer to the role that we have as
managers in an organization. There are number of varies departments according to
the needs of the company. Below is the list of categories and fundamentals of
business administrator skills:

1. Production: Traditionally production is viewed as one of the main departments;


as it does the finest utilization and proper introduction of infrastructure in an
organization or company.

2. Marketing: Under business administration, Marketing is another significant


department for a company or an organization. It given their specialty that today
represents, and holding in the company responsible for developing efficient
methods in the management and coordination of sale system the company offers to
a specific market.

3. Finance: Finance department is responsible for fundraising and the supply of


capital used in the operation of the company, looking to have the economic means
to each of the other departments, in order that they can function properly.

4. Human Resources: Human Resources is a department of vital importance


in business administration, It concerns with the proper use of programs of
selection, hiring, recruitment, training, and development; it is for the company
collects the appropriate and related to the objectives of the staff.

5. Operations Management: Operations management department is responsible


for optimizing, controlling and designing business operations and creating
effective and better operational processes for goods and services to improve the
position of the business.

6. Information Systems: For managing and analyzing, data is a crucial part for
any business or an organization. In this department people uses data and
information management software’s and systems to collect, analyze, filter and
distribute informational data of a business to the higher authorities to prepare
strategies and roadmap for a business.

7. Accounting: Accounting is another important department. Department of


accounting perform analyse, process and prepare financial reports for an
organization. This assist top management to make better financial decisions year
on year.

8. Business Law: For business administration, Business law department is also


called as commercial law department. This department take cares of laws and legal
matters of the business providing goods and services to the customers. In the next
chapter we will learn and understand about business administrative process and
procedures followed widely across any organization or business models.
