FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is SUPERB?

Skim Usahawan Permulaan Bumiputera or SUPERB is a RM100 million grant fund to finance
Bumiputera start-ups. Each team of entrepreneurs has to go through a business challenge
by pitching their ideas for funding approval. There are 4 application windows throughout
the year.

2. How does SUPERB support entrepreneurs?

Winners of SUPERB Business Challenge would be offered funds up to RM500,000 per


company to develop their ideas into prototypes/proof-of-concepts and/or to attain
commercialisation. In addition to providing funds, SUPERB also offers developmental
services and commercialisation support which includes mentorship, training for competency
building and possibly further funds from venture capitalists.

3. Who are SUPERB’s Strategic Partners?

SUPERB’s strategic partners can be divided into three (3) different groups according to their
various roles. They are:
 Fund Partners: Financial investors such as venture capitalists, angel investors or
commercial investors.
 Industry Partners: Industry-specific organisations that can help promote SUPERB and
provide input on industry needs and expectations.
 Outreach Partners: Organisations or individuals situated outside the Klang Valley
which will help promote SUPERB in the respective state where it is based and provide
input on the states’ industry needs and expectations.
TERAJU would from time-to-time appoint new Strategic Partners when the opportunity
arises.

4. Is my idea safe with SUPERB?

TERAJU considers all submitted applications as confidential and treats all team matters
accordingly. However, we cannot guarantee protection of proprietary matters. Therefore,
we strongly encourage any team with concerns regarding intellectual property, trademark,
design, copyright or patent confidentiality to either contact the Malaysian Intellectual
Property Organisation (MyIPO) or to seek professional legal advice from competent legal
counsel before submitting application for SUPERB. TERAJU shall not be responsible for any
loss, direct or consequential, in respect of any proprietary information and/or intellectual
property included in a submitted application. Ultimately, protection of sensitive materials is
the sole responsibility of the individual or team applying for the SUPERB grant
Application

1. Can I post my application?

No. All completed SUPERB applications can only be submitted online via:
www.superb.teraju.gov.my

2. If I am currently a bankrupt, can I still apply?

No. However, if you have been discharged, we will require your release letter as proof and
your application will be scrutinised further for consideration. As this is a government-related
funding facility, we have to follow the national guidelines and laws relating to bankruptcy
laws governed under the BAFIA

3. How many ideas or applications can I submit?

You can submit as many ideas as you want as an Applicant.


However, we will only approve one (1) idea from you

4. Can I apply for SUPERB grant if I have already applied, received or been approved for
funding from Malaysian government?

You can only apply for SUPERB grant if you have not received or been approved for funding
from Malaysian government.

5. If I have received or I am currently receiving other financial assistance (i.e. loan) for a
particular idea, can I still apply for the same idea?

No. SUPERB is for entrepreneurs who have not received any financial assistance.
