The base chakra is shown as a deep vibrant brilliant red, it spins slowly just like the slow moving light
waves. Red is the colour with the longest wavelength and the slowest vibration of all the colours. All
the lower chakras spin slowly and are related to the warm colours of red, orange and yellow.
If the energy is blocked in the base chakra it can prevent energy flowing up into the higher chakras.
The red links very much with the aboriginal people of Central Australia and their connection with the
red earth, the basic energy. Their essential needs still come from the connection to the land; itis the
belief system from which they operate.
45‘A journey through the Chakras
Working with the energies of the Base chakra can bring a sense of focus, stability, unity and tribal
understanding.
‘The red, being the first chakra, is like @ foundation for the entire chakra system. It relates to the earth
and all that is solid and form.
Think of the chakra system like a rainbow ladder, starting at the base chakra and slowly ascending
up to the higher ones. Each step on the ladder takes us higher, and offers the pessibilty of increased
awareness. Each chakra brings us to another level of information and expansion of consciousness.
‘A meditation for the Base Chakra.
Sitting quietly, close your eyes, and gradually become aware of your breath, breathing in and out
deeply. Become aware of your feet resting firmly on the ground. Visualize or feel a beautiful deep red
‘energy slowly moving up from the earth through the soles of your feet ard up the legs into the base
chakra. Let yourself feel the energy of the red as it circles the base chakra.
Affirm to yourself that you have all the resources within you to enable you to do whatever you need
to do, that this red energy can sustain you and give you strength to make the right decisions, to keep
your thoughts positive at all times, and to gently release any negativity associated with concerns
about security. Slowly breathe out what is unhelpful and slowly and deeply breathe in the beauty of
the red energy. Feeling grounded and aware of your feet and legs, gently bring your awareness back
to the energy of your body. Wiggle your toes and when ready, on an out breath, gently open your
eyes.
An affirmation for the Base Chakra.
Every moment of every day all my basic needs
‘are met. | appreciate all that | have in my world. |
am always being looked after by a greater source
Blessings be.
