Inherited instincts. Beliefs and belief systems. Ancestry. Tribal roots. Family ties. Finding peace within the red energy Our physical identity. Supporting ourselves. Understanding the challenges that arise. Obsession with possessions and money. To be able to detach is healthy. To keep focused and grounded. Bringing structure into our lives. The abilty to adjust to change. Self acceptance, rest, eating well, exercise. The base chakra is shown as a deep vibrant brilliant red, it spins slowly just like the slow moving light waves. Red is the colour with the longest wavelength and the slowest vibration of all the colours. All the lower chakras spin slowly and are related to the warm colours of red, orange and yellow. If the energy is blocked in the base chakra it can prevent energy flowing up into the higher chakras. The red links very much with the aboriginal people of Central Australia and their connection with the red earth, the basic energy. Their essential needs still come from the connection to the land; itis the belief system from which they operate. 45 ‘A journey through the Chakras Working with the energies of the Base chakra can bring a sense of focus, stability, unity and tribal understanding. ‘The red, being the first chakra, is like @ foundation for the entire chakra system. It relates to the earth and all that is solid and form. Think of the chakra system like a rainbow ladder, starting at the base chakra and slowly ascending up to the higher ones. Each step on the ladder takes us higher, and offers the pessibilty of increased awareness. Each chakra brings us to another level of information and expansion of consciousness. ‘A meditation for the Base Chakra. Sitting quietly, close your eyes, and gradually become aware of your breath, breathing in and out deeply. Become aware of your feet resting firmly on the ground. Visualize or feel a beautiful deep red ‘energy slowly moving up from the earth through the soles of your feet ard up the legs into the base chakra. Let yourself feel the energy of the red as it circles the base chakra. Affirm to yourself that you have all the resources within you to enable you to do whatever you need to do, that this red energy can sustain you and give you strength to make the right decisions, to keep your thoughts positive at all times, and to gently release any negativity associated with concerns about security. Slowly breathe out what is unhelpful and slowly and deeply breathe in the beauty of the red energy. Feeling grounded and aware of your feet and legs, gently bring your awareness back to the energy of your body. Wiggle your toes and when ready, on an out breath, gently open your eyes. An affirmation for the Base Chakra.
