CORRELATION BETWEEN WORKERS CHARACTERISTIC, SAFETY PROMOTION AND
PPE AVAILABILITY WITH UNSAFE ACTION AMONG MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE
WORKER PT. HOLCIM INDONESIA TBK, CILACAP PLANT

Unsafe action is performance of a task or other activity that deviate from rule of safety. Around
88% accident in work place caused from unsafe action. Action can be affected by predisposing
factor, enabling factor and reinforcing factor.The aim of this study was to identify the association
of worker characteristic, safety promotion and PPE availability inmechanical maintenance
worker PT. Holcim Indonesia Tbk, Cilacap Plant with unsafe action.This type of research is
cross sectional study with observasional study and analytic.Population of this research is
mechanical maintenance workerstotaling 57 people.The sample in this study were drawn from
total population. Data is taken by filling questioner by respondent and observation by
researcher.Statistical analysis is using Chi- Square correlation test.The results showed there
are no correlation between age (p value = 0,940), job status (p value = 0,829), education level
(p value = 0,499), job tenure (p value = 0,347), knowledge p value = 0,105) with unsafe
action.There are correlation between manner (p value = 0,031), supervision (p value = 0,027),
training (p value =0,029) and PPE availability (p value = 0,031) with unsafe action.Company
should give suitable training according the work type, PPE monitoring on contractor worker and
reporting safety performance periodically.
